This volunteer-organized, fun 5K Run/Walk takes place on the beautiful, historic campus of IPS Arsenal Technical High School and aims to combine health, history and a sense of community. Young runners and children are encouraged to participate. It is a casual, mixed-terrain 5k course (asphalt, concrete, brick, gravel). Race starts at 9:00 a.m., and on-site registration and number pickup start at 8:00 a.m.

Participate along with friends, family or your neighborhood as a team, or join in as an individual. High school seniors who would like to be eligible for an individual scholarship need to participate in some way - either completing the race or volunteering. Race entries for students are free, but do not include a race t-shirt.

Since its inception in 2000, the Arsenal 5K Run/Walk has donated more than $70,000 in college scholarships to Near Eastside high school seniors, and recently started monetary awards to extracurricular clubs at Arsenal Technical High School.

Race Day Info

Please enter Arsenal Tech's Campus through the 2nd Oriental Street entrance (near Oriental & St. Clair) to access race day parking.

PACKET/NUMBER PICKUP: We will have a Friday afternoon bib number and t-shirt pick up from 4-6 pm outside the Chase Legacy Center, 727 North Oriental Street Indianapolis, IN 46202.

You can also pick up your number race-day morning from 8-8:45 a.m. near the Start/Finish area near the West Gym. This is a NEW RACE REGISTRATION and TIMING SYSTEM for us, so please be patient with our volunteers as we get everyone checked in and numbers assigned.

Students and clubs interested in applying for the Arsenal 5k Scholarships and Grants, also need to stop by the scholarship table to make sure we have your correct contact info for applications.

We have t-shirts for paid registrations before September 1. If you paid registration AFTER September 1, please check back after you finish the race, and we will give out the remaining t-shirts to those paid entries. Free student entries are not eligible for shirts.

Course Updates

Restrooms will be available inside the West Gym.

Race surfaces are mixed! The course is mostly sidewalks and asphalt, but does go on some gravel behind the East Gym. We are trying to stay off grassy areas this year.

It is not a closed course, so you may encounter pedestrians, bikes, or tree branches on the public sidewalks along 10th Street and along Oriental. Some sidewalks and areas are narrow, please use caution when passing other racers, and respect those trying to pass you.

Tech's campus is not closed, please be mindful of cars entering or leaving parking areas.

Course Info

The course has changed from previous years. We will begin and end by the West Gym, take a lap in Longshore Stadium (currently undergoing repairs, but the track is open), and loop around the Fountain in the Quad. Please look for course signage and volunteers on race day to direct you - there are many, many turns!
