About the Arsenal 5K

This volunteer-organized, fun 5K Run/Walk takes place on the beautiful, historic campus of IPS Arsenal Technical High School and aims to combine health, history and a sense of community. Young runners and children are encouraged to participate. It is a casual, mixed-terrain 5k course (asphalt, concrete, brick, gravel). Participate along with friends, family or your neighborhood as a team, or join in as an individual. High school seniors and clubs who would like to be eligible for scholarships or grants need to participate in some way—either completing the race or volunteering.

Since its inception in 2000, the Arsenal 5K Run/Walk has donated more than $75,000 in college scholarships to Near Eastside high school seniors, and recently started monetary awards to extracurricular clubs at Arsenal Technical High School. Arsenal 5K Inc. is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit. We appreciate your continued support!

Near-Eastside Seniors: Participate to be eligible for College or Vocational Training Scholarships

The Arsenal 5k Committee awards scholarships to Near-Eastside Indianapolis graduating seniors who participate for free in this race (or by volunteering), and submitting an essay to the organizing committee. Amounts of scholarships are typically $250 - $1000 and are based on amount of funds raised and quality of the essay submitted to the committee. Application forms and essay topics are now posted:

Arsenal Tech Teachers: Get your club or team to participate to be eligible for extracurricular grants

The Arsenal 5k awards money to help extracurricular clubs and teams! Get your students to participate (with a free race entry or by volunteering) and submit a project application to the committee. Grants typically range from $500 - $1500 for specific costs as outlined in the application. Past grants have purchased uniforms or supplies, funded fieldtrips or covered conference costs.
